How does the rule of leaving the game works?

Can someone explain me why did I lost the game here? I was playing a 90+30 game and black left the game in a lost position and let the clock running. I waited about 40 minutes and than I lost the game assuming I left the game since my opponent had to move. I also let the page of the game open. I'd like to get a reply from drdeeb to know what does he get from wining these games.
Cheers!
You shouldn't be able to lose like this when it's your opponents turn

I think it must be a bug
well that really sucks :p i'd like to take this space to offer a suggestion

i wonder if lichess could run a quick material check before giving the opportunity for adjudication? i mean, if someone's up like a rook, it's not too likely that they have intentionally left the game and they should be given time to get back to the game.
i know that there are special cases like sacrifices and such, but i feel that could help a lot with people not being tolerant with bad connections in slow games (or, in other words, going for easy "unfair" wins).

i realize that the issue in your case wasn't bad connection, but this suggestion is fairly related i think.
I dont really know.I was replaying moves when i got the game lost.Anyways, thats a good idea but as you said cases with sacrifices would be a problem. I just dont understand the point on letting time clock in slow games to win, after getting lost.
15min. maximum for 1 move is my suggestion, it is enough even for a long game

I have people that play and get an eval of -8 then they just sit there and tab to a new game or something leaving me hanging. It happens a lot in casual games but rarely in rated ones (but it still happens). For when they actually do leave it would be a really nice feature so I do not have to wait I mean most people that are getting mated or down a queen resign but there are a few pests that stick around and intentionally try to annoy me.
