I think most of what so known as "good books" are written in 20th century and are already outdated. I guess the best way is to find some videos on youtube on that opening cause it might be much more modern. That being said I don't play Ruy Lopez.
Fischer's 60 memorable games. Bronstein's 100 open games and Barden's Ruy Lopez are where I started learning it. Jansa's dynamic chess strategy also covers some Ruy Lopez. All 4 are worthy books. (And they are all out of date if you want the latest opening theory.) I try to keep learning it but few play the black side against me and well Covid... so I'm probably forgetting faster than learning new these days.
Mauricio Flores Rios, Quality Chess, 1. Auflage 2015 Chess Structures explains some spanish structures very well.

Lajos Portisch, Gambit, 1. Auflage 2017, My Secrets in the Ruy Lopez explains only a part from the black side. You should look at least at the index and read some reviews. A good book, but maybe not your choice.
There's a new book on the Ruy by Dariusz Swiercz – The Modernized Ruy Lopez – Volume 1: A Complete Repertoire For White. It got a very good review by IM John Donaldson.
Check Thinkers Publishing for the details.

And btw, there's a three dvd series on the Ruy Lopez by Caruana, where he explains a lot of the strategy and tactics in each defence. Seemed more focused on the ideas and options than memorising strings of moves.

nah, they're not outdated, It's fine. Ruy Lopez opening ideas have always been best and simple since the days of Capablanca - Me who only plays the Ruy Lopez
The DVD by Fabiano Caruana: ,,Navigating the Ruy Lopez" is awesome when you` re interested in a well rounded overview 😉.
