Nimzo indian for beginner/intermediate

Is the nimzo indian good for beginner/intermediate (or just 1700-1800), not fully sure if I should learn it or not and I haven't actually gone in and studied what to do, I've just been playing what I think you do
Supposedly better than the KID, but I like to study both regardless if I lose.
The nimzo Indian is a great opening the problem is not really about the nimzo Indian it is that people at some point avoid it. So you need to study the nimzo which have 2 or 3 different variations. Plus what to do when they play the Catalan. What to do when they go Nf3 without the Catalan.

And you have many transpositions from the QGD to the nimzo.

So it is tuff that is why I feel it is easier to play a grunfeld or a Kid. These openings have many lines but you are still in a well organized opening tree.

My advice is first to start playing what you like. If you like the nimzo play it but be aware that you are more aiming for the long term to unleash the full potential of the opening.
#3 Yea, I have seen at higher level people avoid nimzo with stuff like 2. Nf3, but at like 1800 people mostly play into a nimzo or a london, but for the rare situation I get a 2. Nf3 line I'll either play QGD or a queens indian

As for playing the KID/Grunfeld, Probably won't go for the grunfeld but I'll think about KID since ive played it in the past for a bit

Thanks!
What makes the Nimzo-Indian difficult is that there are so many pawn structures that can occur.
My backup plan if I don't get a Nimzo-Indian on the board is the Queen's indian defense with 3.b6 if they play Nf3 to not allow Bb4+.

Contray to popular belief nf3 allows bb4+ and nc3 prevents it

I meant Nf3 prevents Bb4+ because White can block with the bishop (the so-called Bogo-indian defense, "BID". Pretty funny in french). But Nc3 provokes sort-of the move Bb4 because at least if Dishey gets kicked out, he can still take the knight.

You are welcome!

And as it is said above the complexity of the "nimzo" + "your second weapon when they avoid the nimzo" is the different pawn structures.

It can be difficult but at the same time the diversity or richest can only make you a more versatile player and so a better one on the long term ;)
