About me

Sam is a highly results-driven and self-motivated chess competitor that has been playing since he was 5 years old. As for his personal achievements, he is a 3-time national chess champion, the founder of Sam Chess Club, and has represented Canada as the official player at numerous international chess events (e.g. U-18 WYCC 2015, U-16 Olympiad 2016, U-20 NAYCC 2016). As for coaching, Sam has actively taught chess to students of all levels for 10 years. He has taught over 100 youths across Canada with a result of 80% winning district championships, 40% winning provincials and qualifying for nationals. Due to his chess accomplishments, Sam has been interviewed by Maclean's Magazine, C.B.C, Global News, and Rogers News.

Playing experience

-Started playing when I was 5, 15 years of professional playing experience
-3 times Canadian Chess Challenge National champion (2015, 2016, & 2018)
-8 times Provincial and Maritime champion (2011 – 2018)
-Received the official title of National Master from the Chess Federation of Canada and the US Chess Federation in 2016 (age of 16)
-Represented Canada as the official U-18 player in the World Youth & Cadets Chess Championship 2015 held in Greece
-Competed in the World Youth U-16 Chess Olympiad 2016 held in Slovakia as one of the five Canadian Representatives
-Represented Canada as the office U-20 player in the North American Youth Chess Championship

Teaching experience

-Started teaching in 2011, 10 years of professional coaching experience
