As it currently is, "Classical" chess is considered to be 8 minutes for a game or longer. But I think we need a new category for even longer games.
Lichess4545 Team League and Lichess Lonewolf are becoming increasingly popular. These leagues use 45 + 45 and 30 + 30 time controls (TCs) . But I still see rating discrepancies between players.
For example, a player who is really good at playing 8+0 TCs, but not at longer ones, will be overrated in this league with longer TCs. A player who isn't so good at playing 10+0 games, but is good at much longer TCs, will be underrated with each new season.
I think there should be a new "Classical" rating for games that are 20+0 or longer, and what is currently considered classical should be renamed "Rapid". I think it is definitely more accurate to describe the games in this way.
Afterall, Hyperbullet was created, so why not a new "Classical" rating?
