En Croissant: The Ultimate Chess Toolkit

Please consider adding a button for bug reports.

Some engine settings are not working. I tried to set UCI_LimitStrength with UCI_Elo for Shredder 13, and nothing happened, the engine playing with its full strength. Next time, just to check it, I set UCI_Elo to 850 (least possible value) and UCI_LimitStrength to true, and lost again. Both settings are working perfectly in Arena 3.5.1. Since no logs are written during the game, it is impossible to check if your app actually set some settings or not. However, at least Hash, MultiPV and Threads are working.

It looks like where is no way to stop some operations in progress (creating analysis report, downloading database). Once I started generating the report, switched to another tab, and then switched back. After that, when the progress indicator reached 100%, the report turned out to be empty - the generation had to be started again. It's a pity that automatic analysis doesn't add variations to PGN, like lichess does. Once running, the game cannot be stopped except by switching to analysis mode. To set the outcome of completed game, you need to edit PGN manually.

Some PGN tools should be added to make the app more useful. At least I need the capability to add games to the database and remove games from the database. It may be very useful to have the capability to add one game into another as variation, like in lichess.
Can we play games in the app? I can't see a way to actually start a game as if I were on lichess from within the app, despite adding my account and going to the "play game" tab and clicking "start game"
Interesting. Will surely try this in the near future.
Great software, thank you!
May I know - algorithm to determine move quality (brilliant moves) is not the same as in chesscdotom? Believe them has its own algorithm / criteria?!
And are there any chance (in future) to get estimated elo (Lichess and Chessdotcom), for entertaining purpose, of course? :)
how do I load my own puzzle database in order to practice?
Press: Database cylinder icon (on the left of the screen).
Press: Add New +
Press "Local" tab
Click on the space below: Click to select the PGN file.
A pgn file can be a databaes, becasue it can hold multiple games in it.
Go to your document folder under Encroissant and click on any pgn file and for now assume it's a database.
Press: Convert
Press : Star
Delete it if you don't want to use it or don't want more games in that database.
If you did not delete it, press explorer.
Prss the curve arrow on the top left.
Press the pawn icon and press play.
Select engines.
Sroll down over time settings and press start.
While you wait ...
Press the ????.??.?? and select the date.
Press over the Unknown Event and Site.
Put something like your PC Model and CPU ...after all it came out of that computer.
Type system in windows taskbar, open...
Example:Asus Notebook
i7 4500U 3.0Ghz 8GB
ASUS-NotebookSKU
i7-4500U 2024.02.07
You can enter the ELO if you know it.
When the game is finished, press analyse ...
To save it in the database pgn is not clear for me. So maybe someone can continue from there.

This is amazing! The annotation interface is lovely. <3
Yeah, I would also like to know if and how can I merge databases. Like having one main database and then adding new games to it by importing new PGN file to it (I would love to add games from This Week in Chess, theweekinchess.com/twic). Is this not possible at the current iteration? If this becomes possible, I would gladly move from SCID.
