Maybe just stick to the most special tournaments hardest to get and least frequent - to give the implementation of the concept a better cost/benefit ratio.

Shield to the winner if they've been a patron for a year. If not a patron, they get the option to buy the shield if they so desire.
#14 Buying shields sounds terrible. But maybe we could have different sub badges. Like the same they have on twitch.
After 3 months of subscription to lichess your badge gets blue, then after 6 months it gets orange, after 1 year it gets purple. Or something like this. Maybe this'll keep the loyalty of lichess players

hmm.... I like the idea of KC but I prefer real trophies in marathons not shields since marathon trophy stay with you for lifetime! what you guys think?
Amazing ideas!!
Some thoughts:
1) Trophies can be added not only for Shields
2) They cost nothing if lichess orders a bunch of them in advance and add some lichess/tournament/date specifics to it manually
3) Add a QR-code with URL to the tournament - no need to send it back - also, simply indicate the dates of validity, nickname on the trophy itself (make it shine only during 1 month?!), so it would immidiately be visible on the photos
4) Idea - invite winners of biggest events to pick up the trophies personally on some lichess event/lichess offline tournament once a year
Now I think about it.... a real Racing King trophy would look pretty sweet on my bookshelf +1 Amazing idea!!
but than don't you have to give your real life address?? I mean it is not safe you know?? well if you get this things sorted out than what about streamer trophy? I will like to have a trophy with mic NICE IDEAS!!!!!!!
